Building Department
The Department is responsible for checking building plans, issuing building permits, housing code enforcement and, in conjunction with the Planning Department and Fire Department respectively, zoning and vacant building enforcement. In addition, administrating the construction of single family homes in a Self-Help Program sponsored by USDA.

The Department is presently working on seven residential subdivisions, three large multifamily projects and a Walmart super center. Future projects include commercial and industrial development along the state Highway 86 and Highway 78 corridors.
